Nineteenth Century Royal Worcester Cantaloupe Pitcher

Nineteenth Century Royal Worcester Cantaloupe Pitcher

$400.00

For the nature lover. This exquisite cream-colored porcelain pitcher with gilt detailing has been part of Jennifer’s personal collection for the past 35 years. We’re not experts, but markings such as the P1C suggest production in 1879.

Here’s a piece to delight a gardener’s heart, with realistically-textured, thick, matte, creamy porcelain made to resemble the skin of a cantaloupe melon, perhaps part of the Arts and Crafts celebration of nature.

Vigorous golden leaves encircle the pitcher, which also features a realistic, exuberant, gold-leaf melon vine handle. Perfect for serving breakfast orange juice, displaying flowers, or—because of its rarity—as a object of decoration and inspiration.

If I was fitting out a Wine Country farmhouse style home, I’d want a few authentic pieces like this to sweeten the modern, utilitarian style and add a flash of personality.

Weight: 1 lb., 13.5 oz.

8” tall, 7” wide
