2006 PELLA Cabernet Sauvignon

$150.00
Limited Availability

Kristof handcrafted four barrels in 2006 from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Star Vineyard, Rutherford, Napa Valley. 100% French Oak.

The 2006 PELLA moves on the palate with an impressive arc. Aromatics of red apple, honeycomb, sweet tobacco, and cedar. The wine will change over the course of an hour, as complex flavors of citrus peel, sea salt, ripe plum, cassis, raspberry, black tea, and dried mushroom emerge in an elegant, balanced, powerful wine.

The 2006 vintage earned a 98 point score from Master Sommelier Kevin M Vogt, who wrote: “The palate is rich and decadent with deep black fruits, concentrated creme de cassis, delicate florals, and an unbelievably supply mouthfeel. The finish is very long, linear, expansive, and as compelling as you might hope to experience. Perfection is difficult to achieve and even harder for me to acknowledge, but this wine is about as close as I have seen. Simple brilliant!”

We are digging deep into our library and offering our last six cases for sale.

We recommend using a business delivery address to receive wine shipments, as we are required by law to have an adult (over age 21) signature for wine deliveries. UPS will make 3 delivery attempts, and the customer will then be billed $24.00, in addition to return shipping costs.

A note on corks and decanting in older wines:  We recommend using a dual-pronged Ah-So opener to gently, patiently finesse the cork. Gentleness is key, and individual corks vary, some prone to crumbling, others firm and easy to extract. If a cork crumbles or is pushed into the wine bottle, as sometimes occurs, we recommend decanting with a sieve. Decanting will only enhance the nuanced flavors of a mature wine.  Finally, shipping can disturb sediment in older wines, so some rare wine collectors recommend cellaring & allowing sediment to settle to the bottom before enjoying.
