100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Star Vineyard, Rutherford, Napa Valley. 100% French Oak. Bottled in French glass.

The 2005 PELLA smells of sweet frankincense and clove-studded oranges. Its color is a deep blackberry in the glass, with a bright maroon edge. The wine is well-structured, with a citrusy lift, nuanced flavors, and a lingering, silken finish. Initially, one tastes juicy blackberry, lime, and ginger. As the wine blooms on the palate, flavors of vanilla, toffee, cocoa powder, clove cigarette, soy sauce, black licorice, menthol, and pecan appear. Time has introduced resinous and savory flavors to the wine that are completely in balance with its bright fruit. A very harmonious wine with a creamy, silken texture. Drink now or cellar into the 2030’s thanks to the wine’s generous and balanced acidity. (Winemaker’s Notes, 1/16/25)

Please consider shipping wine to a business address. We are required by law to have an adult (over age 21) signature. UPS will make 3 delivery attempts, and the customer will then be billed $24.00, in addition to return shipping costs.

A note on corks and decanting in older wines:  We recommend using a dual-pronged Ah-So opener to gently, patiently finesse the cork. Gentleness is key, and individual corks vary, some prone to crumbling, others firm and easy to extract. If a cork crumbles or is pushed into the wine bottle, as sometimes occurs, we recommend decanting with a sieve. Decanting will only enhance the nuanced flavors of a mature wine.
