Vintage Wedgwood Jasperware Creamer

Vintage Wedgwood Jasperware Creamer
Think of it as the anti-Pottery Barn. The anti-Crate & Barrel. One day tasteful taupe and cream living rooms will be as dated as powder blue velvet couches. Why not enjoy a jolt of color and a dose of Classical mythology with your morning coffee (assuming you use a creamer). I think of it as a pop of personality.
On one side of the creamer, we see Icarus and Daedalus. I would call Icarus’ body language cocky. Is he even listening to his father’s warning, not to fly too close to the sun? On the other side, we see Aesculapius, god of medicine (holding a snake), treating a young man (holding a bowl). If I was a youth, I might feel a bit…warned. Chastised. The world is dangerous, but we heal. It’s a lot to digest.
Vintage sea green Jasperware creamer with 75 imprint on bottom (presumably meaning it was crafted in 1975). Dry-bodied (meaning no glaze). Tiny, a mere 5” wide at its widest point and 2 3/4” high. If you filled it with ceam, you’d only need ½ cup.
I love to use a tiny piece like this to hold flowers. I think it would make a smashing birthday present for a friend, filled with random blossoms.
